Beefeater
campaign / advertising / out of home / copywriting / art direction / academic projectBeefeaterSay yes again
The problem was never the drink. It was having to explain yourself.
Beefeater Light is a gin with all the flavour and half the alcohol. The brief asked to say that now you can have a drink on any occasion. The campaign doesn’t talk about the product: it talks about the excuses you no longer need.
We all have a repertoire of excuses for not having another one: early start tomorrow, it’s Tuesday, I’m off. Phrases that always start the same way, with a "no".
The device is a single gesture: the bottle sits right on top of that "no" and covers it. What’s left underneath is no longer an excuse, it’s a plan. "No puedo, mañana madrugo" (I can’t, early start tomorrow) becomes "Puedo, mañana madrugo" (I can, early start tomorrow). The series lives out of home, in the places and at the times those excuses get made, and closes with a 20-second spot.

Insight
A drink never needs an explanation. A "no" almost always does.
Tension
When you decide not to drink any more, you stop being someone who has made a decision and become a label: the bore, the party pooper.
Idea
A bottle that covers the "no" in every excuse.
The deviceThe bottle always covers the same thing: the "no". The rest of the excuse becomes an answer.

Out of homeEach excuse, where it gets made: leaving work, on a terrace in Malasaña, on the Callao screens and getting off the bus in Plaza de España.

Spot · 20 secondsThe same idea in motion: the bottle arrives just in time to cover the excuse, and the sound cuts out with it.
